The word Electrophile, is made up of two words. The one is Electro which means electron and the second word is Phile which means liking/loving. Overall the word Electrophile refers to the species which likes electrons. By this , we means that, in a chemical reaction the electrophile species gets attracted towards an electron. Hence an Electrophile should be regarded as an Electron liking/Loving species.
