There are only two species that lay eggs being in the category of Mammals. They belong to the 'Monotremes' mammal species. The two creatures which comes under this category are:

• Duck-billed Platypus
• Echidna (Spiny Anteater)

These are the only left mammal species which forward their generation by laying eggs. Both of them are indigenous to Australia and New Guinea.
