MFA ( Master in Fine Arts) is a post-graduate degree that helps creative people to refine their creative skills and produce more interesting and polished art forms. It is a two-year programme with specializations in various visual and performing art forms.

There are a variety of MFA specialization that a candidate can pursue according to his interest and these are:

  • Creative writing
  • Photography
  • Computer Animation
  • Graphic Design
  • Drawing and Illustration

and many more.

To be eligible for this course the candidate needs to have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (BFA) from a recognized institute or college in the relevant specialization. Colleges like the Amity School of Fine arts require minimum 50% marks in BFA, while others like Jamia Millia Islamia demand at least 60% aggregate marks in graduation. So it is a good idea to refer to the college one is applying for admission to get a clear picture. A majority of colleges don’t have any age limits, but few like AMU do, which require that the candidate be not more than 27 years of age as on July 1 in the admission year.

The average fees for this course range from 10,000 to 2,00,000. And the job opportunities are also very great, you will be working as a Graphic Designer, 3D Artist, Art Director, Creative Director, Fashion Designer.

The average salary that you will get is someway between 3,00,000 to 6,00,000. In my view, it is a very good course to pursue.

Hey Aspirant,

Hope you are doing great,

MA in Fine Arts is a generalized degree with a focus on any number of subject areas such as Drama, Dance, Music, Visual Art, and other disciplines that a university may classify as "Fine Art." An MA is an excellent degree for anyone interested in working as an arts administrator, curator, gallery director, or other cultural worker.

As others have pointed out, an MFA is a specialized degree that prepares students to become actors, dancers, musicians, or artists. Finally, until recently, an MFA was considered a terminal degree, whereas an MA is the foundation for further study at the doctorate level leading to a Ph.D.
