For an elementary reaction 2a +b gives rise to c initial rate with respect to a is 0.04 Ms^-1 when volume of vessel is doubled, final rate with respect to b will be?

I am giving the solution for this question below.

We have, 2a+ b--->c

Rate=(-1/2)(d[a]/dt) = (-d[b]/dt)

So, (d[b]/dt)= (1/2)×0.04 = 0.02M/s

If V is doubled, c is halved, so:-

Rate= (1/4)×(d[a]/dt)= (1/2)(d[b]/dt)= 0.02/2 = 0.01M/s

So, the required rate of reaction is 0.01M/s.
