For M.tech course in IIITH do they prefer candidates who have research background or work experience over normal B.tech student ?

hello,

yes, b.tech with work experience/research background is better for you.i think you need GATE score only to do m.tech.you'll be definitely having advantage over the fresh b.tech holders.i suggest you to go through below link:
