Open category signifies unreserved category. Through the NEET-PG, acknowledgment into various MD/MS courses happens. There are seats devoted to the earmarked sector like SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc. and there are open sectors in which the nominees who availing no reservations are competent.

This implies caste or income is not indispensable for an open category.
