Hii aspirant
A good score is a relative thing and much depends on the person and his ambitions. However, M.tech below NIT level is not recommended and IITs and NITs are already one level below for m.tech courses as compared to the b.tech in these colleges.
For NITs, you need 3235 marks minimum or score around 450 to get a course in decent NITs as far as civil engineering is concerned. 3235 marks is the minimum thing, the more the marks, more the score and better the NIT or IIT you can get. Top NITs like Warangal, Surathkal, Trichy, Allahabad etc beat even some of the lower ranked IITs in their GATE cutoff requirement.
Below 32 marks or 410 GATE score, chances of NITs are close to zero and hence pursuing m.tech is not recommended as it will land you in same boat in which you were after b.tech, i.e some waste of years, money and being jobless even after that.

Given that, I would define decent as getting admission in any NIT. Since there are a lot of NITs as well as multiple M-tech streams for civil engineering, as of present scenario, its not a big deal to get into one of them. So in order to be counted as a decent performance you will have to secure a score a little about the cutoff. In my opinion if the cutoff is 24, you must score above 30 to get into any NIT

Thank you

Hello Susant Sahoo,

With this score chances are very less ,It doesn't consider as a good score. For NITs, you need 32–35 marks minimum or score around 450 to get a course in decent NITs as far as civil engineering is concerned. 32–35 marks is the minimum thing, the more the marks, more the score and better the NIT or IIT you can get. Top NITs like Warangal, Surathkal, Trichy, Allahabad etc beat even some of the lower ranked IITs in their GATE cutoff requirement.

Thank you.

Hope it helps.
