The score card will be valid for a period of three years from the date of announcement of GATE result. It means you are not required to appear for GATE every year. If you have a good score, you can apply through it in IIT's upto 3 years without appearing for the exam each year.

Thanks for the information. Can we even get the job next year with the help of previous year score during its valid period?

Mostly for PSU's they require a valid GATE score for the current year but you will have to check with them as in a few PSU's they might take through previous year GATE scores as well.
