Germanium diode draws 50 miliampere with the forward bias of 0.27 volt . The junction is at room temperature of 27 Celsius. Determine the reverse situation current of the diode.

Dear student,

We have to find the Reverse Saturation Current i.e. Is.

Now, Forward Bias Voltage/Vd = 0.27 Volts

Temperature = 300'K

Diode Current/Id = 50mA

Now, we will use the current equation.

Id = Is . ( e^Vd/nVt - 1 )

Now put all the values in this given equation, we have

Is = 1.46 microA
