Here is a post about IIIT's.

IIIT's are institutes focusing on Information Technology (IT). If an institute focusses on a particular branch, then it is said to be better than other institutes which provide diverse range of branches. There are two types of IIIT's:

1. These come under the Central Govt. These include

IIIT Allahabad,

IIIT Gwalior,

IIIT Jabalpur,

IIIT Kancheepuram,

IIIT Vadodara,

IIIT Kerala,

IIIT Srinagar,

IIIT Kota,

IIIT Sri City,

IIIT Guwahati.

You can get into these IIIT's through CSAB counselling. Fees is quite low in these

 institutes.

2. Those which do not come under the Central Govt. These include

IIIT Hyderabad,

IIIT Delhi,

IIIT Bangalore,

IIIT Bhubhaneshwar.

You have to fill in seperate forms for these colleges. They offer admission on the basis of jee mains score/rank. These institutes can make their own rules.

Fees is quite high.

Rest of IIITs are still developing or new. Also there are two types of IIITs. First are those which come under central government and second those which not come under central government. Fees of second type of IIITs are quite high and they have their own rules. You have to apply individuallyin them. Admission is through JEE Mains score.
