Hey Aspirant,

MAKAUT

Placements : The college has good placement records, some renowned companies like Microsoft have visited the college. A good number of students have placed through campus placements every year. The average salary package offered is around 5 lacs per annum, but some brilliant students can get above 10 lacs per annum. The college doesn't provide internships, but they will help you to find one. One can get a minimum stipend of Rs. 3,000 during the internship, but students who got internships in good companies can get a higher stipend. There is a placement cell, and it is very active. They prepare students for placements.

Infrastructure : The infrastructure of the college is good. Wi-Fi facility is available on the campus as well as in the hostel. Labs are very good, and at least two labs are present for each practical subject. Classrooms are spacious, and almost ten classrooms are available. They are clean. There is a library which consists of many books. Medical facilities are good. There is a playground on the campus where students can play sports. Quality of food in the canteen is good, and every food item is provided.

Faculty : The number of faculty members present in the college is very good. They all are helpful and well-qualified. They teach beyond the syllabus. They are very knowledgeable. They don't use any special teaching methods; they teach according to the students.

Heritage

Placements : This institute gives the best placement in the market. They are placed in well-known companies. Recently, our college had received the Best Campus Placement Institute of the Year awards 2017 by actress Zeenat Aman. They send us for internship to the reputed channels to learn and from there we got our placement.

Infrastructure : The infrastructure facilities are very good here. We have our studio, video editing lab, computer lab, production house, etc. For relaxation after classes, we have a small cafeteria where we jell-well after class. Hostel facilities are also available here. I personally didn't find any infrastructure issue till yet.

Faculty : the faculties are very helpful. They are very friendly and understanding. All the faculties are well qualified and they are very knowledgeable. If I talk about the faculty-student ratio then it is 1:30. The course and the subject they teach is very useful for the course of mass communication and journalism.

  1. Government colleges are generally preferred due to low tuition fees, the trust of a government seal, quality of faculty-since they follow standards of recruitment and remuneration, infrastructure and other financial and statutory requirements.
  2. Private colleges are preferred due to lavish infrastructure, marketing, placements and better standards in terms of hostels and life.
  3. Both the colleges that are under discussion are of repute and stands in the top slot in their respective categories. JU, IIEST, Razabazar is ahead of KGEC whereas IEM is ahead of Heritage in terms of brand and other facilities.
  4. The basic disadvantages of KGEC are their urge for placement and internships, being a Government Engineering college it’s usually expected. Heritage in terms of placement is quite robust and diverse and better than KGEC but KGEC is catching up.
  5. The faculties are more or less identical in quality and commitment.
  6. The difference between the two comes up in locations ( Kolkata versus Kalyani), marketing and brands, tuition fees.
