Hello Challa,

A Bachelor degree in Optometry. Not enough to work as an Optometrist. That requires a doctorate (O.D.). A doctorate allows one to be addressed as “Doctor” but it’s not a medical degree. Examples of doctoral degrees are OD, Ph.D., EdD, PharmD and so on. To become an Ophthalmologist, a doctor hi specializes in disorders and diseases of the eye, one would need a medical degree, an M.D.

To be an eye doctor, one need to do DNB/MS/DOMS in ophthalmology in India.

BSc optometry will make you an optometrist, not a doctor.

After B. Sc you can go for M. Sc and other higher studies or be an optometrist and work as an optometrist.

Hope this helps.
