The final selection into the IIT's or NIT's completely depends on the GATE score and category also matters a lot.

As you are scoring 36,It is not sufficient to get into NIT's.However you need to improve the score.

As category also matters,if you are from SC/ST category you may get some NIT's but chances are low but if you are from O BC or OC then give another attempt, improve your score and crack a PSU or IIT

your score is very less  to get NIT, it is just enough  qualified score  in disciplane to get NIT your score must be more than 55

Hey aspirant.

The marks u have obtained in GATE exam is just enough for u to get qualified in the discipline u have choosed. As u are from ECE branch which is one of the most crowdiest branch so u should be scoring more.

About getting NITS for ur further studies u will not be getting them as the cut off for doing M.tech is around 60 marks and u are well below that.
