TS EAMCET is the state level entrance examination for Engineering and medical program. Recent news states that there will be no 12th percentage added as  weightage for EAMCET rank. But securing good percentage in 12th may have some concession in Tuition fees. Categories such as SC/ ST/ General/ BC etc. doesn't have any special ranks, EAMCET ranks are state level Ranks declared by the JNTUH on behalf of the Telangana state council of higher Education.

Categories matters only at the time of counseling where colleges have some seat reservations for candidate belong to SC/ST/BC category securing high rank then general category. As your son has secured 51 marks in TS EAMCET examination, His ranked would be in between 40000 - 50000 according to previous year rank survey. He would definitely get good colleges.
