Hey, if you are appearing for Bachelors entrance exam for English you will have to know a little bit about general awareness, Basic knowledge and with that, you will have to be thorough with language, comprehension and grammar and a little knowledge about literature.

If you are appearing for masters, along with all the mentioned above you will need to know about the History of Literature and names of books and author and movement that changed literature or had an impact. You will have to have a clear idea about the history. I hope this helped.
