CRL stands for common rank list .

This list is prepared same for all the students without considering their category  , quota or any other factor . It is the list which tells us the rank  of any student all over India . It is the rank which calculated with respect to the marks of a student . Like a student having the maximum marks will have the CRL rank as one and the student having the minimum marks will have the CRL rank equals to the total number of students who appeared for the exam and as the marks of a student decreases ,his rank increases and  the student who got marks preceding to the topper, he will get the rank as 2 .

The process goes on like this.

A student belonging to the the reserved category get admission on the basis of CRL rank  while a student belonging to reserved category gets admision on the basis of category rankonly.

Hope you understand
