I liked your question. Even I have wrote KVPY exam and its interesting part is doing mathematics of biology section. To increase your analysis skill you should increase your observation skill. For that you must practise more and more KVPY as well as such similar questions.

Do as many as KVPY previous as well as model questions. You can also practise similar questions from UGC-JRF, GATE or JAM exams. This comes handy to gain more experience.
