Yes coaching is important when it comes to solving your doubts and practicing questions of any engineering entrance exam.
But you should not rely on it totally as the professors will only solve your doubts.You should only rely on self study and practice a lot of questions in order to score good marks in entrance exams.Never stay in doubt and join mock test program of coaching institute.
