Kalyani University is a state Governmnet university & have Accreditation NAAC A. It is a decent place in term of faculty & staudy Environment etc.
The Department started with twenty (20) students who got admitted to the course on 30th August, 2011 and classes started on the very next day. Now the Department has thirty-three (33) seats.

At present the Department is laying special focus on Kāvya (Sanskrit Literature), Darśana (Indian Philosophy) and Dharmaśāstra Studies (Ancient Indian Law & Society).
