Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies or SIMS is among the few of the institutes that provide management education to defence personnel of the Indian Defence Services, according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Defence and Symbiosis International University, its parent university. It is one of the few management institutes in India to be accredited as a "Centre for Corporate Governance. It offers full-time MBA, executive MBA, PGDM in Retail Banking and Sales, though 90% seats are reserved for dependents of defence personnel for its Flagship MBA program. The seats for all other courses are open to all. Its sprawling 4-acre campus is intelligently designed to provide all the necessary amenities of a contemporary B-School with excellent academic and recreational facilities.

The cut-off figures for SIMS's flagship MBA programs are 51.4+ for open defence personnel and 77.4+ percentile for industry sponsored candidates in Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP). The selection process includes a Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and Personal Interview round. The weightage criteria for the final selection process is based on the total composite score including the following components according to their corresponding weightages:

SNAP Score:50 Marks

Group Exercise:10 Marks

Personal Interview:30 Marks

Written Ability Test:10 Marks
