Hii,Well on an absolute scale VIT Chennai presently is a well established campus and have all the facilities you require to have on campus.But obviously this question is asked in taking Vellore campus is reference so I will try to answer the same.Vellore campus of VIT is the old and mother campus and is large campus. The campus is considered one of the best in the country. The campus was made such because outside the campus there is nothing in Vellore. You miss out the city life. On the other hand, Chennai is a wonderful city (though the campus is not near to main city) and students can enjoy a city life outside campus too. The airport, is near.. even the main railway station of Chennai is well connected.

Coming to the fest and campus activities, we do have fests (both cultural and technical) but they are much smaller than Vellore. Even clubs and chapters are there but lesser in number.. having said that it's also a positive point since it's easy to make your identity in those clubs than in Vellore campus.. also I feel Vellore is a little too overcrowded and it's very easy to get lost in the crowd..Coming to the academics & infrastructure. This I can tell you that Chennai is at par Vellore campus at present.. infact having lesser students, it's easy to connect to the faculty members and also easy to get good CGPA (which matters the most). Though personally I feel Chennai is bit strict when it comes to academics when compared to Vellore.

Placement is also same since Vellore and Chennai students have combined placement in Vellore. Only Chennai students have to travel every time to Vellore for placement

In the end if you get Vellore it's awesome, but if you Chennai you will not miss out anything.. like in chennai we may not have swimming pool but we do have a beautiful lake on campus which look even more beautiful in the evening.. To conclude I would say while Vellore offers you a vibrant campus life, Chennai will provide you personal touch which eventually make you feel like its your second home.
