Hi aspirant,

In every colleges and universities, they give five years time to pass your backlogs under the regulations laid by the university grants commission. If you are doing three years undergraduate degree, you will be given 2 years grace period. Post graduate degrees also come under this rule. Colleges are also expected not to cross this rule.
