Considering the current trend of Moderate to Tough Papers, You shouldnt really focus on Clearing the Cutoff, but on securing an IIT Seat. Being a General Category Candidate, you need a Rank of Atleast 11-15k to secure a Seat in one of the IITs. This roughly converts to 30-33% or 120+/360 on an average, when it comes to marks. However, this shouldnt be your Target. Your target must be securing atleast 40% of the Total Score, i.e. 144+/360 and hence have a great number of choices during Counselling among various Old and New IITs. Irrespective of the Paper being on the Tough or Easier Side you may confirm your seat in IITs securing 40-50% of the Total Score.
