The health ministry in consultation with Board of Governors (BoG) in supersession of Medical Council of India (MCI) has notified the 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in all government colleges granting MBBS admissions through NEET. The reservation will be implemented from the academic year 2019-20. With the 10% reservation, it is expected for a hike of 1000 MBBS seats, which will lead in reducing the comptetion for general category candidates. However, the exact number of increased government MBBS seats through NEET 2019 will be announced later.
