how many questions is there in clat exam from reasoning and mention the chapters.which chapters are coming?

Hello Aspirant,

There are two types of reasoning in CLAT UG examination, one is Legal reasoning and another is logical reasoning. So from Legal reasoning, around 35-39 questions are asked and carries the weightage of 20% of total paper whereas from logical reasoning 28-32 questions are asked and carry the weightage of 20% of total paper.

@English Language

>>>>> Comprehension-type passage-based questions and passages of around 450 words will be taken from contemporary / historically significant fiction & non-fiction writing.

  • High School English Grammar and Composition by Wren & Martin
  • English newspaper - The Hindu or The Indian Express
  • Editorials and articles given in newspapers and magazines


@General Knowledge and Current Affairs

>>>>> Comprehension-type passage-based questions - Static general knowledge and current affairs and also based on News, journalistic sources, and non-fiction writing

Resources to be used :-

  • Lucent’s General Knowledge
  • Pratiyogita Darpan
  • Newspapers - The Hindu or The Indian Express or any other good newspaper
  • Websites on current affairs for CLAT and UPSC Civil Services
  • NCERT books for understanding basic geography, history, polity and economics


@Legal Reasoning

>>>>> There will be comprehension-type passage of around 450 words each followed by objective type questions and the questions are based on fact situations or scenarios involving legal matters, public policy questions, or moral philosophical inquiries.

Books to be used :-

  • Bare Acts of Indian Constitution
  • Legal Awareness and Legal Aptitude by AP Bhardwaj
  • Universal’s CLAT Guide
  • Newspapers - The Hindu or The Indian Express
  • Websites on current affairs for CLAT and legal issues


@Logical Reasonings

>>>>> Questions based on sets and arguments, puzzles, diagrams, relationships and others based on the given passage of around 300 words .

Books to be used :-

  • Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal
  • Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey


@Quantitative Techniques

>>>>> Questions based on sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial, or diagrammatic representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions.

Books to be used :-

  • Quantitative Aptitude by RS Aggarwal
  • Elementary Mathematics with Numerical Ability
  • Class 10th NCERT Textbook
