Candidates can attempt  at most twotimes in two consecutive years.Candidates should clear 12 th board or equivalent exam in previous years,For JEE Advance also candidates should appear two times in consecutive years, While JEE Main 2019, 2018 and 2020 will be considered 3 different attempts, JEE Main January and April session will be considered a single attempt. The rank will be prepared after conducting the April exam and only the best of two marks will be considered, as per the rule .

A candidate can appear for Jee Main in conservative 3 years. If you have passed intermediate in 2020, then you can appear for Jee Main in three consecutive years i.e. 2020, 2021 and 2022. Now Jee Main is conducted twice a year, once in January and another one in April. So this means, you can appear for total six attempts. Both January and April of 2020, 2021 and 2022.

And you can attempt JEE Advanced Examination for maximum of two times in two consecutive years. So if you have passed intermediate in 2020, then you can give Jee Advanced in 2020 and 2021 or else 2021 and 2022. But if you appear for Jee advanced in 2022, you'll not get the second chance.
