Originally every candidate has a maximum of three attempts for JEE Main . Candidates can appear twice for the entrance test in a year. So this is used in correlation with the original number of attempts , from 2019 onwards, JEE Main number of attempts in total will be six.

You can appear in jee main consecutively 3 years just after 12th.You can appear in Jee advance two times just after 12th in consecutive years.To know more about jee mains and advanced check these posts.

To be eligible for the entrances mentioned above you must have passed your class 12 exam in 2017/ 2018 or must be appearing for the exam in 2019 for 2019 session. Other than that you can appear only twice in a year. And you get 3 chances. Which means a total of 6 chances in 3 years.
