Now as you can see if an OBC candidate from outside state wants a Computer Science branch then he needs a category rank around 250 and to get this your general rank or common rank should be below 1700.

This is a bit difficult to predict the marks/percentile/rank required in JEE mains to get a seat in nit  as cut off  keeps changing every year  depending upon various factors like  number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the jee main examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.

When we go through previous year trend then ,

In round 6 of josaa counselling 2020 , for  gender neutral to get computer science engineering   , closing rank  in nit trichy for obc category is provided below:-

So, for open state, for obc category 242 was  closing obc rank , and 242 obc rank is around 1200 - 1500  common rank i. e at least around 99.85 - 99.9
