In JEE Mains, the rank needed for admission depends on the college, branch, and your category. For top NITs and IIITs, you usually need a rank under 30,000 for popular branches like Computer Science (even lower for General category). For other branches or reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), ranks up to 1–2 lakh can still get admission in good colleges. Private colleges accept even higher ranks. So, aim for the best rank possible and choose colleges wisely during counselling.
B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN
Hello there,
Admission through JEE Main depends on several factors like category, course, and college. But generally, here’s a rough idea:
Top NITs (CSE/ECE) : Under 10,000 rank (for General category).
Other NITs & IIITs (core branches) : Up to 50,000–75,000 rank .
Lower-demand branches or home state quota : Up to 1,00,000–1,50,000 rank .
SC/ST/OBC/EWS : Relaxed cutoffs, admission possible even beyond 2,00,000 rank .
Private colleges through JEE Main : Often accept up to 3,00,000+ rank .
Counselling through JoSAA and CSAB decides the actual cutoffs each year.
