Students often tend to confuse between bca and bsc computer science on which one is better in terms of placement and salary. Let me give you an overview.

Bsc computer science is a 3 year ug course dealing with the more conceptual aspects of the computer like data processing, software development, working of different components, some hardware components and also coding. A graduate in this field can easily get jobs in both government and private sectors and may even go for m.sc in the future. The government companies like bhel,nsdl,mtnl and bsnl and private companies like TCS,Infosys, larson are the top recruiters with salary around 3-6 lakhs which increases with experience. Jobs are like data analyst,  software developer, software architect etc.

Bca is also a 3 year ug course spread over 6 semesters focusing mainly on the application of computer science. It teaches to create websites,  development of mobile apps with good knowledge of coding. Hardware is not in the spotlight of this course. The starting salary of bca graduates is around 2.4 - 5LPA which may increase to 3.5 to 8 Lpa. This increase occurs generally due to experience and after completing mca. The highest salary offered is by Linkedln which is of 12 lakh p.a

Students who like database and networking as well as the hardware component should go for bsc in computer science and also who wants to be researchers in this field. Bca is for those who like the application of computer in different fields of life and are intrigued by the software part.
