Hello Vinayak
Around 24,500 EWS candidates are qualified for JEE Advanced (10% Percent of 2,45000) .But IIT’s this year have not reserved 10% seats for EWS candidates.

In total, there are around 500 seats for EWS category candidates (and that too in Top IIT’s ,the lower IIT’s presented an excuse that there infrastructure could not accomodate 10% more students as there are only fewer hostels that they have at present.)
But they have been ordered to do the needful from next year onwards . So for this particular year EWS in IIT will not be that beneficial .However for candididates from next year onwards seats will be pre-served if you work a little more on your preperation .
But wait There is something more ..
Did everystate pass EWS reservation ??? A big No
Have EWS certificates been issued in any state ?? A big No
EWS certificates is likely to be issued after General Elections . So run for your right and get one for yourself (at any cost)
According to me . Not for than 5000–6000 will be able to produce EWS certificates on time . So if you get one ,its gonna be a piece of cake for you (competition reduced ) . Get among top 500 in 5000 and you are done .
Mind it . Every single detail above is verified except that EWS certificates will be issued after Election(authorities said me so) .
However NIT’s have created entire 10% seats for EWS candidates So you stand in equal footing as ST candidates (or may be better) . You may check ST cutoff’s for NIT .This may give you a rough idea about the NIT you may get according to your EWS rank .However you will be required to produce the certificate at the time of councelling.
