Hi, you have to decide if you want to be a commercial pilot or the defence pilot. I will tell you about the commercial pilot requirements

In 10+2, you need to have Physics, Chemistry, Maths as the subjects compulsarily with an overall percentage of 50%.

After that when you apply to institutes of your choice, a written examination is to be cleared .

Some of the top institutes to pursue aviation course are:

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academy (IGRUA), Rae Bareilly

● Rajiv Gandhi Academy of Aviation Technology, Kerala
● National Flying Training Institute, Gondia
● Bombay Flying Club, Mumbai
● Ahmedabad Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd., Ahmedabad
● Madhya Pradesh Flying Club (MPFC), Indore
● CAE Oxford Aviation Academy, Gondia,
● Indigo Cadet Training Program, (Hamilton, New Zealand & Hyderabad, India)

IGRUA is one of the best. They conduct their own exams. The course is of 42 lakh rs.

Average cost lies around 25 lakhs for all the licenses(student, private, commercial licenses)

First you have to go for student license and then move ahead to private and commercial licenses. The cost of becoming a pilot is high. I have heard some people splurge over 70 lakhs for getting good pilot training.

Now the next question is, is it worth this much money?

The average salary of a pilot at the beginner level starts from around 1.5-2 lakh per month. As the experience increases, so does your salary. It can go up to 8lakh per month before you get promoted to the desk job(managerial). So in a way you can get your investment back in two years or three. Although the job of a pilot is a very hectic lifestyle. You have to keep yourself in good medical condition all year long. The fitness and medical exams do not stop after you have the job. You get to travel everywhere. Wherever you go, you get to stay in 4-5 star hotels. There are very less opportunities for holidays to pilots. It is a job of great responsibility and the job is very dynamic as you can have any challenge while flying a plane. You need to be very careful. The lives of atleast 100-150 people is in your hand. Conclusion is, it is a very rewarding career with a lot of risks.
