well different colleges have diferent criteria fro recruiting assistant prof., some of the colleges  release their own notice and have interview and written test.

but most of the colleges have an criteria that you have to go through UGC NET, give the exam, qualifying it has different cut offs, and then you can apply for the prof post in different colleges with your rank or score.
