You must have a decent score in your 12th class (any stream) and then pursue Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History or Geology. To pursue a career as an Archaeologist a master's degree is needed in Archaelogy and Historical Sciences. To add a good value and get better oppotunities a Ph.D is essential. It opens many ways to get a high paying job Archaelogical Survey of India and other reseach organizations.
