Go for 10+2 with PCM and Statistics if possible. Then you can go for BTech Data Science/ BSc Data science form different colleges. You have an opportunity to do a BSc (Research) course in Data Science at IIT MADRAS.  The course is a distance course but you will get a full time degree from IIT MADRAS as well as a research experience. In order to become data scientist Students are expected to complete the 10 + 2 successfully by obtaining at least 50 per cent marks from any recognised board of India in the science stream consisting of physics, chemistry, and mathematics, computer science as compulsory subjects. You do need to study economics and statistics to get a clearer understanding of the course.

Many institutes and colleges undertake admissions examinations. Schools are expected to begin preparing for the entrance examinations to appear.  The admissions are received mostly on the grounds of the candidates' results in the entrance test. There are also other universities that offer admissions on a merit basis of 10 + 2 passing marks. The selection criteria differ in terms of marks and the enrollment procedure from university to university.
