After completing the Special Forces(SF) training the candidates can choose to opt for Para SF unit for which they have to train an additional 3 months where they are trained on more specialized tasks such as high altitude jumps( 33,000 feet), endurance training, specialized combat training, etc.

Once the candidate completes the training and the probation period, he/ she receives the Maroon Beret and the dagger of the Special Forces. Post this phase they are allocated to various sensitive locations such as Kashmir, Jaisalmer, and other classified locations where they are deployed at classified missions and undergo classified operations. . They can also be deployed at interior locations for counter insurgency operations too.

Now when the Para SF or the SF commandos have completed around 3 to 5 years of  valiant service they can opt for the Super Para SF or the 22 Special Forces or proudly and truly known as 'The Mavericks' unit of the Special Forces of the Indian Armed Services. The volunteered officers are then tested through an extensive exercise which usually lasts for around 3 months where in their mettle are tested so as they can be made and rightfully declared as the best of the best and the most fierce, efficient and deadly unit of the Special Forces. They are then trained in such a way that when they are deployed for any emergency, there is a 200% chance of success and do keep in mind they are deployed only when all other units fall back.
