Honestly just read up on cases, avail the use of Legal Aptitude books online (especially those that have MCQ's behind them so youve got a lot to solve). Try taking sectional tests on Law thats usually available on various CLAT prep sites like (time4education). Oh and read not just about Law and the Principles but about the Constituition as well.

Hi,

Common Law Admission Test is conducted for admission in 5 year integrated BA/BBA/Bsc LLB program in various National Law Universities.

The CLAT exam consist of 200 multiple choice questions in which 50 questions are from legal aptitude.

The questions test your reasoning ability and inclination towards law. In legal reasoning questions a principal is given and a situation is followed by the principal, the candidate is asked to pick the right option keeping the principal & situation in mind.

Though it isn't necessary but a basic theoritical knowledge of legal topics such as torts, constitution, criminal law, law of contracts, family law, IP law etc would come in handy while solving such questions. The legal aptitude material of CLAT Possible coaching is very nice and if you are unable to get that you can refer AP Bharadwaj.

The key to score in Legal Aptitude section is practice. Try to practice at least one set of 50 questions everyday and do a proper analysis of the mistakes.

Thank You

All the best!!

Legal Aptitude is one of the most important sections as regards to CLAT not merely because it is the only “law related” section but also because it acts as a tie breaker and can make a huge difference in CLAT ranking and ultimately the college you land up in.The best way to prepare for legal aptitude is to first clarify your concepts and then practice as many questions as you can. It is one of the easiest and most scoring sections. Also, if you regularly practice its questions, you will see a considerable improvement in your marks. To get a good score in legal aptitude, you need to stick to the principle specified in the question. Most people do the blunder of not applying the principle and using their extra knowledge. This happened in CLAT’17 as well. The legal principle mentioned in few questions was way different from the actual principle. For example one of the questions from CLAT’17 is as follows-Principle: Whoever takes away with him any minor less than sixteen years of age if a male, or less than eighteen years of age if a female, out of the custody of parents of such minor without the consent of such parents, is said to commit no offence.Facts: ‘A’, a man, took away a girl below sixteen years to Mumbai without informing the parents of the girl.If someone did not read the principle completely or applied his own knowledge, he/she certainly would have marked the answer wrong. In the same question if I were to twist the principle, I could have written that “Whoever takes away with him any minor less than sixteen years of age if a male, or less than eighteen years of age if a female, out of the custody of parents of such minor without the consent of such parents, is said to commit negligence.” The question remaining the same, if you did not stick to the principle and marked the answer as “kidnapping” instead of “negligence” you would have lost marks.Another common mistake done by students is to presume something which is not explicitly mentioned in the question/principle. www.careerconvey.com For example if a particular question is about rescue cases in volenti non fit injuria, you do not have to consider rescue cases as a defence for “volenti non fit injuria” if the legal principle talks only about “volenti non fit injuria” and not its defences.Apart from all this, legal aptitude is one section where you should not spend a lot of time figuring out the logic behind the answers mentioned in the answer keys(especially the answers to the past year papers). The answer to these questions are very subjective and can be pretty arbitrary. Devoting a lot of time just to figure out the logic behind few answers is merely a waste of time. Refrain from doing that and you are good to go.All the best!
