Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies (KIAMS)was set up in 1991 by the Kirloskar Group at Harihar to put its illustrious leader Mr. S.L Kirloskar's thoughts to practice. Mr. S.L Kirloskar , the doyen of Indian industry was a visionary of a rare kind who possessed the drive and the determination to accomplish his vision.

The emergence and subsequent success of the Kirloskar Group companies in the firmament of the engineering industry in India was one of his visions realized. Recognizing the need for fostering managerial and organizational excellence in the context of the liberalization of the Indian economy, KIAMS dedicated itself to the task of Management Development in the Kirloskar Group and for other companies.

In 1998, having made a mark in the area of executive education in the country, KIAMS ventured into training bright young minds in high quality management education to meet the managerial leadership needs of the country. This is offered as a two-year fully residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management Programme (PGDM) in Harihar.

Encouraged by the success of its alumni in industry KIAMS has started its second campus at Pune in 2010. Both the campuses are approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
