Latitude is measured in degrees north when in the northern hemispehere and degrees south when in southern hemisphere.

Similarly, longitude is given as degrees east when in the eastern hemisphere and west in the western hemisphere.

Also, to calculate distance between latitude and longitude there is a certain formula that can be used to measure the same.
