Since your OBC and NCL certificates are not ready, you will likely be treated as a General category candidate during NCET counselling. Your scores are very strong, especially in Geography, Hindi, and Teaching Aptitude, so yes, you do stand a good chance under the General category as well. Keep all documentation ready and also mention your acknowledgment slip during counselling.

Can a Masters degree with Geography be external?

gopi 9th Jul, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can do the Master's degree in Geography through external mode (distance learning or open learning) from recognized Universities. Now, many Institutions in India like IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) and various state open Universities offering M.A. in Geography in distance mode. I must say that it should be UGC-DEB (University Grants Commission - Distance Education Bureau) recognized if you want it for job purpose, or for further studies.

Hello,

With a CUET score of 778 out of 1000, you have a good chance of getting admission to BA programs like History with Political Science or Geography with Political Science in some North and South Campus colleges of Delhi University, especially if you are from the general category. However, the specific college and program you can get into will depend on the cut-offs for those specific courses and colleges.

hi,

If you want to do a Ph.D. in Geography, first you need a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks. You have to clear a Ph.D. entrance exam or qualify UGC NET/JRF. After that, you’ll attend an interview where you discuss your research interest. Once selected, you’ll complete coursework for 6 months to 1 year. Then you start your research, which usually takes 3 to 5 years
