The certificates in India is taken as a proof of something. Just like we need income certificate to prove our annual income , similarly we need minority certificate to prove that we belong to the minority certificate.

But mandatory need to present minority certificate has been slashed. The government has said that the minority don't need minority certificate to prove it. A self attested document mentioning that the person belongs to a minority group will be sufficient to avail the Government welfare benefits.
