First of all you should get to know what's your caste General or OBC. If you're an OBC Candidate why you applied for an EWS Certificate. For OBC candidates, OBC NCL Certificate option is available. It is legally not right for an OBC candidate to hold an EWS Certificate. And it is also legally not right to hold an OBC NCL Certificate for a General category candidate.

Though validity of EWS Certificate is one year, if you are an OBC candidate, after one year, EWS certificate needs to be renewed. You might face a lot of difficulties and shortcomings while applying for an OBC certificate. As you must have submitted General caste certificate at the time of EWS Certificate application process.

If you're a Genreal category candidate then you can't apply for OBC certificate, matter even if your father holds an OBC certificate.
