Jasti inorder to get the top NIT's of India based upon your category you need to have the atleast score of approx 160+ in the JEE mains entrance exam which depends upon the branch and the premises of NIT in which you are wishing to opt for such that based upon the cuttoff of that individual branch you can be able to opt that respective branch which will vary yearly. As you are from general category you need to score much more than others in order to get seats.We have detailed analysis for the previous year cut off for the top branches .Every year there might be slight changes in the cut off but they are approximately same.You can check the cut off by visiting the link given .

Your rank will decide your admission .
As you know that from this year there will be 2 chances for JEE mains.
So this time I think there will be tough and good competition.
See if you want NIT than you will get in 150 marks also.
But you have to compromise with place and branch.
So to be in good condition so that there will be many options for you and you can choose a better place and high branch you should score more than 200 marks ( under 10000 rank.)
