Hello Isha
If you wish to become a pyschologist in the future and is certain about it, you should go for Arts/Humanities branch as it is the stream which is the most aligned with your interest.
Science stream is based for technology and medical while commerce is for accounting. Humanities would be a good choice and you can opt Pyschology as your 5th or additional subject.
Hope this answer helps! Thank You!!!
Hello Aspirant,
If you are aiming to be a psychologist, select a subject combination in Class 11 that consists of Psychology (if available along with other subjects) and one or two subjects like Biology, Sociology, and English. Psychology can be taken with a Science (PCB) stream or with Arts/Humanities with Psychology as the core subject. This will appropriately prepare you for a degree in psychology at the undergraduate level.
If you are in Class 10 and wish to become a psychologist, the right subject combination in Class 11 can lay a strong foundation. Psychology as a subject is often introduced at the higher secondary level in certain boards, so if your school offers it, definitely choose it. Along with psychology, you should also take Biology, as it helps you understand the biological aspects of human behavior. English is a must-have, not just because it’s a core subject, but also because a career in psychology involves extensive reading, research writing, and communication. Depending on your school’s stream structure, you may have to choose between Arts/Humanities and Science. If you go for Humanities, you can include Sociology and Political Science, which are closely linked to understanding societal behavior. If you go for Science, Biology will give you an advantage for certain psychology specializations, especially clinical psychology. Remember, your goal is not just to clear school exams, but to build analytical, empathetic, and research skills. Later, you will need to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, followed by a Master’s, and in some cases, an M.Phil or PhD for specializations.
Thank you and all the best!
