Hello aishwarya,

Hope you're doing well.

Well, coming to your query, it highly depends on what your interests are. I'll brief you about both of these fields anyhow:-

1. Forensic sciences : it is basically the application of science to the field of law. Government sector is also very much welcoming for students of forensic sciences. Due to increased crime rate, the scope for the same has increased drastically. Following are the fields you can work in after completing your education:

  • Medical examiner
  • Crime laboratory analyst
  • Crime scene examiner
  • Evidence enhancer
  • Language expert
  • Forensic engineer
  • Forensic scientist.

Average salary - initial salaary is 3 to 4 Lakhs per annum in the field of forensics.

2.Biotechnology:It is the field of science that used living organisms or any other component of the biological systems, for new creations. However, as interesting this sounds, India is still behind many countries for this field. Scope of biotechnology(jobs) :-

  • Food processing
  • Drug and pharmaceutical research
  • Environmental control
  • Waste management
  • Bio processing industries
  • Energy industry

Average salary: 2.9 lakhs per annum to 7 lakhs per annum, though it highly depends on thee industry work and location.

Hey aspirant,

I wouldn't be able to suggest you with which branch you should go for. As,this is a really important decision amongst the students. You should only go with that branch in which you feel you are more comfortable and interested. It's but obvious that you wouldn't want to waste your 4 years of life in studying something in which you are not at all interested.

Now, talking about both the streams then both the streams have interesting subjects but when it comes to career line then you may find difficulties in forensic sciences because there are very less private companies that hire forensic students. Also it doesn't matters if you have done bachelors or masters in this stream because the no. Of companies are less and whereas talking about govt then there is high competition as for labs both the stream students can apply i.e, forensic and pure science.

So, for a better career and job I would recommend you to go with biotechnology as there are many companies which hire students from biotechnology like nestle, Delloite etc.

But as I said the stream should be totally chosen upon your interest.

Hope it helps.!

All the best.
