Your question is very valid and important. Every college might have different requirements but a few can be generalized here. If you have a laptop currently that doesn't match the specifications your college has, another alternative could be to upgrade the current laptop.

i5 Processor

6-8 GB RAM

64 bit processor

Try to choose a laptop with high battery so that it will be able to work smoothly.

Also, a suggestion, choose a light weight laptop so that its not a pain to carry it along all the time.

Choosing Window OS will be more preferable to MAC OS because Word, PowerPoint works on Windows. And also a few study material apps which the college may offer may not work on MAC OS. (Experienced this)

All the work you have in MBA needs laptop so choose wisely.

The kind of laptop that you should buy completely depends on your need and taste.
For being used during BBA and MBA and within your budget , a laptop with 8 GB of RAM and i5 processor would suffice. You should select the brand according to your preferences.
