The books which you are following are most widley used for JEE Preparation , they will help you to get some good score in JEE. To become a top ranker please do conecntrate more on ncert and please try to have a look on Cbse+1,+2 question papers also.

As the gate exam is conducted at national level the exam questions will surely have the concepts of ncert books. NCERT books are the best to understand the concepts. RD Sharma is a good reference as well. For clearing mains and advanced the concept is more important than anything else. I can suggest you HC Velma for physics concepts. There are no specific books on which you can depend. If your basics are strong you can start solving previous years question papers.
