There is no necessity of taking a year gap now it self.I am a student of IIT KHARAGPUR and I have many of my friends who wasted their first year and started studying for the JEE in the second year and have cracked the exam.Hence be patient and work hard.Instead you can spend 3 hours daily to revise the concepts of the first year.Hence just work hard ,and don't think of a year gap now.Try your best and I hope you will do it.All the best.
