I would like to personally suggest that when it comes to choosing a career, it should be your own decision after in-depth analysis of why you particularly want that. Your relatives can’t decide on your behalf which career you should pursue. It’s you only who will be living with your career choice each single day, not them. At the end of the day, job satisfaction matters which will come only if your are happy doing what you do; money will come next.

But of course, you should try to make your parents understand that you are really passionate about fashion designing. Not only this, you have to prove yourself to them. Dream without a proper plan and commitment is just a aimless wish. You have to give your 100% when you start your professional studies of fashion design.

Now comes your current situation. I assume that you will be appearing for JEE Main, but you should understand that clearing this entrance exam is not easy, especially when you have not studied from last 7 months. It requires constant and rigorous studies along with sincere dedication. If you don’t want to be an engineer, then it’s quite clear that you will not be able to study with complete devotion. You have to make your parents understand that you will not be able to become a good engineer even if you clear the exam anyway because it’s not your interest area.

And you should hurry a bit now because National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has already released the application form. The last date is December 29. It is considered as the best institute for fashion design programmes. I will advise that you fill the form and start serious studies from today only.
