Hello,

Right now you're in VIIth standard, you're too young, it's good that you are already thinking upon career choices, you cannot go to law school after 10th standard, let me just brief you about law program,

basically law programs are of two types, first is integrated one based on 10+2 qualification for a duration of five years in many forms such as BA-LLB, BBA-LLB,BCom-LLB , BCA-LLB, BSc-LLB etc, and then there is  three year duration LLB is based on graduation degree.

Eligibility of integrated law program is having passed 10+2 from a recognized board with minimum 50% aggregate, there's relaxation of 5% in case of reserved category.

Admission process can be based on the merit of the qualifying examination such as in case of TNDALU, or done through entrance test as follows-

  • CLAT, conducted for admission to NLUs across India, and its scores are also accepted for other universities/colleges
  • AILET, conducted by National Law University, Delhi
  • LSAT scores are accepted by many law schools such as Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat
  • SET, by Symbiosis Law Schools Pune & Noida
  • CET of GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi which scores are accepted by 6 law schools including USL, LS and Amity Law School, Delhi
  • CUSAT Cochin for admission into School of Legal Studies, Cochin
  • Bharti Vidyapeeth Pune for admission into New Law College, Pune
  • Christ University for admission into Christ University’s School of Law
  • Panjab Univ. Chandigarh for admission into UILS Panjab University Chandigarh
  • AMU Aligarh for admission into Faculty of Law, AMU
  • Jamia Milia, Delhi for admission into Faculty of Law, Jamia Milia Islamia
  • LAWCET of Andhra Pradesh, accepted by all law colleges in AP affiliated to state universities
  • CEE - Kerala, accepted by four government Law colleges of Kerala

Next comes the three year LLB program for which eligibility criteria is candidate needs to passed Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university  with 45% marks and in case reserved category it's 40%. Universities like DU and BHU require minimum 50% marks while universities like Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Meerut require  only 45% marks in graduation. Here only admission process can be done through academic merit or done through entrance test as follows-

  • DU LLB conducted by Delhi University
  • BHU-UET(Law) by BHU
  • LAT by University of Allahabad
  • state level law entrance exams such as TSLAWCET  in Telangana/MHT CET LAW in Maharashtra/AP LAWCET in Andhra Pradesh/KLEE in Kerala

So, accordingly in future you can choose to go for integrated law course after 12th standard, or three years LLB after graduation whatever you prefer, there is no restrictions in terms of belonging to specific stream in any of these courses, but right now you should focus well in your studies, wishing you all the best for future!
